As Editors in Chief, we pledge that Surgery is committed to the recently published diversity and inclusion statement published in JAMA Surgery We are keenly aware and actively supportive of the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in gender, race, national origins, sexual and religious preferences, as well as geographic location, practice type, specialty, and socioeconomic status. Diversity, equity, and inclusion of representation on our editorial board, digital media and innovations editorial board, panel of reviewers, and authors attest to our commitment to continue to engage diverse representation in all components of our publication process. The evolution in the participants in each of these facets of our journal has continued to evolve reflective of our strong commitment to diversity, and, thus, the composition of each of these groups has become increasingly varied with time. We are, however, firmly committed to ensure further evolution as time progresses. We are privileged to have been amongst the first Editors-in-Chief to support the statement written by Drs. Melina Kibbe and Julie Freischlag. Their editorial focused upon gender diversity, which we unfailingly support and practice. We support diversity in all elements of our editorial, publication, and peer review processes. We have been, currently are, and continue to be staunch proponents of gender diversity in the review process.
